    • Initial Evaluation - Your first appointment will be your Initial Evaluation. Here you will connect with your personal Physical Therapist. You will be given the time and space to explain your situation, discuss your symptoms, and develop a treatment plan that will work towards your personal goals. This visit includes a comprehensive assessment and exam of your primary complaint region. Here your Physical Therapist will initiate treatment through education, precise manual therapy, and/or tailored exercise prescription.

    • Follow-up Treatments - Your subsequent sessions will be your follow-up treatments and will consist of personalized care tailored to your needs based on the outcome of your initial evaluation. These visits will likely include manual therapy, pain management strategies, individualized exercise prescription, education, progression of your home program, and updating your overall plan.

    • The cost of these visits will vary depending on your insurance or out-of-network benefits - see the Insurance and Billing section below. Cost will be discussed at your initial visit and any insurance information you may have will be collected either prior to or on your first day in order for us to verify your insurance benefits and assist with guiding the best option forward for you.

    • You do not need a doctor's referral to get started! Check out our Prescriptions for Physical Therapy section below for more details.

Treatment

  • Your financial responsibility for physical therapy will depend on whether you are going through your insurance or choosing our self-pay option. If you are going through insurance it will depend on your specific plan. See additional questions below for more details.

    • Medicare

    • Tricare

    • Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of PA

    • Don't see your insurance plan listed?

      • See additional information below or Contact us and we will be happy to answer your questions.

  • If we are not in-network with your insurance plan, you may still be able to use your insurance plan’s out-of-network benefits to pay for your visits. If you do not have out-of-network benefits available or choose not to use them, we are also able to see you as a Self-Pay patient at our cash rates. This option can often be more advantageous for a patient as costs are more straightforward and your care isn’t dictated by your insurance provider. Feel free to contact our team if you would like more details.

    • If you are currently uninsured, we would still love to help you. You would be seen as a Self-Pay patient.

    • Our Self-Pay rates:

      • Initial Evaluation: $150

      • Follow-up Treatment Visits: $125

      • Check out our “WHAT TO EXPECT” section above to see what each visit type entails.

    • For more information on our Self-Pay rates please call our team with questions.

    • Your financial responsibility is dependent upon your specific insurance plan benefits. You might owe:

      • a copay (a fixed amount of money that you pay for a healthcare service)

      • a coinsurance (a percentage of the total cost of a healthcare service)

      • a deductible (an amount of money you must pay before your health insurance plan starts to share costs)

      • OR a combination of these options

    • Generally, if you have a deductible that applies to physical therapy, each appointment will cost around $100 until your deductible is met. If you have met your deductible, or if your deductible does not apply to physical therapy, you may only be responsible for a copay or coinsurance, usually between $10 and $50.

    • Your insurance benefits may also dictate how many physical therapy visits you are eligible for each year.

    • Either prior to, during, or shortly after your first visit to HPT, you will receive a detailed explanation of benefits and together can determine the best path forward to cover your physical therapy costs. The variability of timing on this conversation will depend on you providing HPT with your insurance information - the sooner the better in order to give us time to verify your benefits.

    • If you would like to know more information about your benefits prior to scheduling, we recommend calling the Member Services number (found on the back of your insurance card) to speak with a representative from your insurance plan.

Prescriptions/Referrals for Physical Therapy

    • The short answer is no, you do not need a referral or prescription to start physical therapy.

    • Our Physical Therapists have Direct Access licenses which allow for at least 30 calendar days of PT treatment prior to needing a referral from a doctor. The caveat is that some insurances require a referral and in this case, we would know that upon benefit verification before your first visit and will do the leg work to obtain this for you from your doctor.

    • All that being said, if you have a referral from your doctor please bring this to your first physical therapy visit. This will improve the efficiency of the process and reduce unnecessary back-and-forth communication with your doctor.

  • Check your email for the intake forms that need to be completed prior to your first visit. These are to be completed online through our secure digital portal.

    • These forms will include collecting your insurance information allowing us to verify your benefits. This information will allow us to provide you with the estimated cost per visit.

    • If you do not receive the email please let us know - call or text 717-462-7606 or email us at henningerpt@gmail.com.

    • Wear something comfortable to move in – your PT will get you moving and you may do some light stretches or exercises

    • Arrive with extra time to park and find our office within the YMCA. We are located right inside the front doors off of the Walnut St parking lot. We have two offices and there are waiting chairs outside both of them. You can always ask the YMCA staff at the welcome desk and they can point you in the right direction.

    • Bring your ID, insurance card, and preferred form of payment (you can leave those at home for follow-up visits).

New Patient Info

  • We understand that life happens, and you may need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. In the event that you’re unable to make your scheduled appointment, we do require at least 24 hours notice. This will allow us to find a different time for you to continue your treatment while also allowing us to provide care to patients waiting to be scheduled.

  • Canceling within 24 hours of a visit (or not showing up) will lead to a $50 fee.
